Welcome to the Strong's Crane E-Newsletter

Company History:

Strong's Crane Service was founded in 1947 by Don Strong. Don had spent many years as an iron worker building bridges throughout the United States. It was during that time that Don realized Billings, Montana could use a dedicated crane service. In 1956, Don's son, Dick, sold his excavation company to invest in his fathers expanding crane service. Don retired in 1969 when Dick purchased the family business. Dick expanded the business with the addition of the companies first hydraulic crane in 1969 and a 125 ton lattice truck crane in 1974, the largest in the state at that time. Dick's son, Doug, joined his father in June 1978, working as a crane operator. Dick and Doug continued working together for the next 17 years. Doug purchased the family  business from his father in October 1995 and is currently serving as President of the company.

Since 1995, the focus of the company has been to modernize the fleet of cranes and equipment for our loyal customers. Staying on the leading edge of technology with modern cranes has improved safety on the job site as well as lowering costs through quicker travel, faster set up times and more efficient on site operations.

Adding three new Link Belt cranes in 2009, a 50 Ton Rough Terrain crane, a 75 ton Series II Hydraulic Truck Crane and a 250 ton Hydraulic All Terrain Crane, Strong's Crane Service continues to work hard to bring modern, safe and efficient equipment to its customers in the industrial, commercial and residential industries. 3D Lift Planning:

In 2008, Strong's Crane Service started using 3D Lift Planning to layout and verify critical lifts. Along with the 3D Lift planning, Strong's can calculate any ground bearing pressures on any Link Belt Crane. Both of these safety tools help ensure safe and efficient lifts. Click on the Lift Planning quick link on the right side of newsletter and look at lift drawings of jobs that were recently performed. Basic lift planning and ground bearing calculations are free of charge to our dedicated customers.
